Influenza A virus subtype H1N1

Korean celebrity, Kwang-Ki Lee, lost his seven year old son Suk-Qu Lee yesterday. He is a famous comedian actor in South Korea. In last two months, I have seen Mr. Lee in the Korean TV Show “Star’s Junior Show.” Many celebrities and their children are the guests of this TV Show. In one of the episode, Mr. Lee was a guest member with his son. Two years ago, his wife, daughter and his son migrated to Philippine for their children’s early education. Then they came back to South Korea this year. I saw the show when Mr. Lee and his son was the guest member, they seemed happy and healthy. So I was very shocked when I read the articles about Suk-Qu’s death. According to the last night’s articles, this young boy lost his life by pneumonia. But the result of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 test became positive. Therefore, he was infected by one of the flu that damages human cells and kill human being, not by pneumonia. Most of infected ages to this virus are children and elders. It was called swine flu at first time, but it was a virus that is a subtype of influenza virus A. This child lived seven years in this Earth and could not survived from this bad virus. Kwang-Ki Lee said, “My son became an angel” a day after his son’s death. Who expected this death and especially in Mr. Lee’s family? No one knew when he was infected. No one know who will be infected and become a next death. So everyone must protect themselves from the virus.
In this semester, I have learned how the cells are form, work, and then reproducing another cells Also I am learning about DNA and their system right now. When I am in the microbiology class, I become so exciting about that knowledge. But in the reality, human being’s essential systems’ are so risk by many viruses. I wonder, “Did we made this kind of virus throughout our environment?” Like Rachel Carson pointed, we should protect our environment for our health.
